blogger 13 According to Helle, the newer Disney films define “love” differently

In older Disney films like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty , love was mostly shown as romantic love between a princess and her prince. The main goal was to find true love’s kiss or get married, as if that was the only way to have a happy ending. These movies suggested that a woman’s life was complete only after she found a man to love her. Newer Disney and Disney-owned stories, though, have expanded what love means. For example, in Frozen , the love that saves Anna isn’t from a prince but from her sister Elsa, showing the power of family love. In Brother Bear , love is shown through the bond between brothers. Kenai learns to care for Koda like a brother, and by doing so, he learns forgiveness and empathy. The story focuses on personal growth and the importance of family rather than romance. Even Star Wars , now part of Disney, highlights different kinds of love. While there are romantic elements, the main focus is on family connections, like Luke and Vader or Leia and Luke. The ...

blogger week 3 Soto’s mother and Carolyn’s are depicted as always cooking or serving food....

From my perspective as a Latino American, I see that the idea of women always being in the kitchen is still around, but it’s slowly changing. Growing up, I watched my mom and grandma always cooking for the family. During parties, the women were in the kitchen making tamales, pozole, and arroz, while the men hung out outside by the grill or watching TV. It felt like an unspoken rule that if you were a woman, you showed love and respect through food. But today, I think things are shifting, especially among younger generations. I see more men stepping into the kitchen and taking pride in cooking for their families. My uncle, for example, loves to cook and always hosts family dinners. At first, my grandma didn’t like it. She would say, “Eso no es trabajo de hombre,” meaning, “That’s not a man’s job.” But after tasting his food and seeing how happy it made everyone, she started to accept it. If we visited a home today where a man was the host and preparing all the food, I think it wo...

blogger week 3... why is there racism?

As a Latino American, I feel lucky because I have not personally experienced racism in a direct or harsh way. I know that many people in my community have faced unfair treatment, but for me, most people I’ve met have been respectful and supportive. Even though I have not felt racism against me, I still see it happening around me, and it makes me sad and frustrated. I think the cause of racism is mostly ignorance and the fear of what is different. Some people grow up hearing stereotypes at home or from friends and never take the time to actually learn about other cultures. They stick to what they think they know instead of opening their minds and hearts. To make things better, we need more education and more chances for people to connect with each other. Schools should teach not just about historical facts but also about different cultures and the value of diversity. We should also encourage people to speak up when they see someone being treated unfairly and support each other mo...

week 3 blogger... a time they did not think I could do it, I did not think I could either! But, I just did it

There was a time not too long ago when I decided to take an EMT class so I could get a new position and a raise at work. I thought it would be easy at first, but I quickly learned how tough it was to balance everything. I was working full-time, going to EMT school, and taking regular college classes all at once. Most days, I was running on barely any sleep and had no time to hang out with friends or relax. There were moments when I wanted to give up because the workload felt impossible. Studying for exams, practicing hands-on skills, and finishing college assignments all in the same week pushed me to my limits. But I kept reminding myself why I started — to move forward in my career and prove to myself that I could handle it. In the end, all the long nights and early mornings paid off. I passed all my classes with an A and even passed my National Registry of EMT test on the first try. I got the new position at work and will be starting on July 18. Beating the odds taught me that...
